One of the hardest parts about celebrating Valentine’s Day for my husband and I is finding the time to actually get away for a few hours. Between his work and our kids, we rarely get any time to ourselves. And this is true for a lot of parents. Many couples find it difficult to arrange a date night after kids. But it doesn’t always have to be dinners, drinks, and a movie. You can have a perfectly romantic and emotionally connected date night right at home with the help of CRATED with LOVE.
Whether you just need a nice evening with your partner or you feel like maybe the two or you are growing a little distant and could you something to bring you closer together, CRATED with LOVE is the subscription box for you. CRATED with LOVE is a box that believes that love, laughter, and creating simple date ideas is the key to keeping your relationship alive. Each month you get a box designed to help build skills with your relationship. There’s a new theme every month with new activities so it never gets stale. Each box contains special date night activities meant to build up you and your partner.
Now, this isn’t your traditional monthly subscription box, meaning you won’t find an array of products from other brands. But what you can expect is 3-4 date night activities, games or projects, all focused around the monthly theme that is sure to create an atmosphere of romance and laughter. And best of all, it’s kept a surprise so neither of you will know what to expect! Exciting right? So prepare dinner, maybe light some candles, and get prepared to feel connected!
For the box I received, the month’s theme was You Complete Me. It was created around the premise that being in sync with your partner and working together helps you become stronger. So each of the activities are designed to have us finishing each other sentences and partnering up to complete fun games. Inside the box contained, 2 “Our Crazy Story” Activity Cards, 1 Hand Counter, a Set of “Perfect Pairs” Cards, 1 CRATED with LOVE Puzzle, and an online activity called “Before Bed Block”. Each activity is designed to be completed in a certain order. They are labeled as Challenge 1, 2, 3, etc.
So for Challenge 1, “Our Crazy Story” Activity Cards, we each take a card, without reading them, and a pen. Then we ask each other for words that fit the descriptions found on the lower half of the card. When we are each done, we read the cards out loud and compare it to what really happened. This turned out to be a really fun activity that had us both giggling. But what I noticed was how after the activity, we both just sat and talked about the beginning of our relationship. It was really nice how such a simple activity had us reminiscing and remembering what brought us together in the first place.
Challenges 2 and 3, turned out to be a little more difficult for us. Challenge 2 consisted of us creating a story using only one word at a time. Each time we said a word, one of us would click the hand counter and try to see how many words we could get before laughing or giving up. What I learned from this activity is neither one of us is very creative. We tried our best but we didn’t get very far but we agreed to stop together and that’s partnership. For Challenge 3, we used the Perfect Pairs cards. This game is played by placing the stack in the center of the table, drawing 5 cards each, and turning over the top card in the stack. Then we have to make one of our 5 cards relate to the turned over card in some correlation and explain why. The game keeps going until one gets the most points.
This game was fun but after a while got pretty confusing with all the cards on the table. But we definitely had a lot of fun playing and it really seemed to get us laughing and talking. I feel that both of these games are about communication and that’s very important in a relationship.
The last activity, Challenge 4, was the one challenge that certainly took the longest to complete. But if we wanted to get access to the Online Bonus content we had to finish this puzzle and solve a riddle. I think this was our favorite challenge because at first we were mostly focused on trying to solve the puzzle but after a while, it was just nice to sit close together and talk. And of course, the sense of accomplishment when we finished the puzzle together was amazing. My husband and I don’t always see eye-to-eye when we are working together on a project but for this we did amazing.
What I learned from the CRATED with LOVE box is you don’t have to go to fancy places for a perfect date. We can get close just sitting at home. I also learned that finding simple activities that force us to work together is really good for our relationship. When we work together and communicate we can have a lot of fun. And with CRATED with LOVE having all the activities put together for us, it really takes out the guesswork. Both of us are very happy with this box.
