While most of us are getting ready to visit our loved ones for the Holiday Season, there are some people who won’t get to see all of their loved ones. Whatever the reason may be, it can be really difficult during this time of the year. For us, we try to see as many people as we can, but we do have some family that lives far away. For example, I have a grandfather that I rarely get to see because he lives several hours away and is always so busy traveling from place to place with his work. What that means for us is we miss out on my children getting to know their great-grandfather and I harbor a bit of guilt this. And while traveling isn’t really an option, sending a care package to him is the next best thing.
GrandBox lets me send a lovely care package full of surprises to my family that includes a special note and photos of our family. Started in March of 2014, GrandBox sent out their very first boxes and have been helping families stay connected ever since. Every month GrandBox sends out boxes of full-sized items that gear towards the 65 and older crowd. Each box is a mix of items that featuring new and exciting products alongside nostalgic and familiar ones. Every month is a new theme such as Farmer’s Market Fun or Movie Night at the Drive-In, and each box is guaranteed to arrive before any major holiday such as Christmas, Grandparent’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.
Inside every box, you’ll find five full-sized items as well as family photos and a personalized note. The team from GrandBox specializes in knowing what seniors like so they will never include anything like knick-knacks or anything that will collect dust. I was sent the Harvest GrandBox to see exactly the types of items you can expect to find in each GrandBox.
This month’s GrandBox was themed the Harvest Grandbox to represent the changing seasons and the coming of Fall. So inside the box, you’ll find food items that you’d picture in your mind when you think of Fall, a game to play with your loved ones since everyone going to be spending more time inside, and something that can make your whole home smell like the wonders of Fall. It’s a pretty great box.
So let’s start off with the edible goodies because they are the first items that caught my eye. And one of those items is a BigSlice Kettle Cooked Apples pouch. Now I am no stranger to these. These are actually one of my favorite foods because they are so soft and packed with flavor. Who doesn’t love a kettle cooked apple? And I believe this is a product that GrandBox would classify as a “nostalgic” item. I can remember many times that my grandmother mentioned making kettle cooked apples with her mom. And they are great for seniors with denture because they are such a soft food.
Another food item inside this box is the Farmer’s Pantry Cornbread Crisps. When I think of Fall I think of sitting at home, under a blanket, eating my comfort foods and cornbread is definitely a comfort food, at least down here in the south. Farmer’s Pantry is another brand that I am familiar with. They make many great snack sized products that are really yummy.
This next product, I am completely unfamiliar with but they sound really delicious! The Maple Creme Cookies from Dare are premium maple flavored cookies which I bet are pretty great dipped in a cup of coffee. These cookies just scream fall! In fact, they are even shaped in that amazing maple leaf shape. I would love to get a surprise box shipped to me that contained cookies!
As far as subscription boxes go that contain food, GrandBox gets it! They understand how to pick food that not only fits a theme but they are really superb at choosing food for a certain clientele.
GrandBox has also included something to help bring people together and pass the time. That item being Tenzi: the world’s best dice game! If you don’t know what Tenzi is it’s basically a frenzied dice game where everyone gets’s 10 dice and has to frantically roll your dice until all of them are the same number. It’s a game that’s perfect for the older age group because it doesn’t require a lot of action and yet it’s still really fun. A wonderful inclusion.
The last but certainly not least item in the Harvest GrandBox is the Honey and Almond Room Spray from Michel Designs. It’s a 3.3 oz spray bottle that basically encapsulates the scent of Fall, at least what Fall means to me. It’s a light scent that can quickly mask any unpleasant smells or just as a room freshener. I personally like spraying it on my curtains to hold the scent for a little longer. It’s a very pleasant scent and another great choice by GrandBox.
All these products are just to give you an idea of what you can expect to send to your loved ones when you sign up for GrandBox. They offer 4 different subscription options, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, and a Yearly plan. The 1 Month option is $33 every month with Free Shipping in the USA. Along with these items you can include up to 5 photos and a personalized letter. I think that’s a great way to sort of catch your loved ones up with what’s going on in your life or with your own family.
The idea and premise behind GrandBox is really amazing. If you have grandparents or great-grandparents say living in a nursing home, I know this would brighten their day and put a big smile on their faces. Or maybe they just live too far away to visit as often as you’d like. Either way, it’s a really amazing way to say, “We’re thinking of you!”
