When kids move up in school and get ready to start middle school to high school they are going to need a way to stay organized. They have tons of classes and different homework/projects to remember. If they don’t stay on top of everything they can quickly become overwhelmed. Order Out of Chaos has made an Academic Planner that’s made to help kids from middle school up to high school.
The Academic Planner that I was sent to review is a great way for kids to stay on top of everything they have to accomplish for that school year. It’s a 2015-2016 Academic Planner that actually teaches kids Time Management as they use it. The front page of the planner is the Student Information page. This is where the student can keep all their info in case they accidentally misplace the planner. The next pages are a letter from the creator, Leslie Josel and a Planner Pointers page. These two pages are full of helpful hints and tips to maximize the usage of this planner. Some of these tips include: Using Sticky notes to remind yourself about important assignments due or upcoming school events. The planner even suggests making the sticky notes color coded and different sizes to be an extra reminder tool. What a great tip!
But I think the Planner User Guide is probably the best page for understanding this Academic Planner. If my kids are anything like their mother, I need a visual aid to help my understand things better. This page does just that. It features a sample of what the inside looks like with word bubbles that feature tips of how to use the planner.
I really love how the planner features are Yearly Calendar and monthly calendars.
The way this Academic Planner is set up is unlike anything I’ve seen before in a planner. The purple bar on the left side of the planner is wider than all the other Monthly calendars. This allows you to list all the school subjects you have for that year. Whether is Math, Science, English, etc. you can see this list on every page after. There’s also a long section for everyday of the week. This allows you to place info about each subject on your calendar. Before a new month starts there’s a Notes page. This page is where you keep a list of Monthly Projects.
The whole planner goes from July 2015 – July 2016. And on the inside of the end cover page actually features a pocket to keep important papers. The whole planner has a three hole punch to keep it neatly placed in your binder.
This Academic Planner by Order Out of Chaos is very well made. And you can tell that that everything was considered during it’s design.
